      Automobile is the gist of cutting-edge engineering technologies offering high added values and great knock-on effects. The Department of Automotive Engineering aims to teach basic engineering knowledge, practical skills on automobile architecture, mechanism, inspection , maintenance , service and  enable the students to develop automotive part design capability as practically-oriented and creative professional engineers required by automobile manufacturers, automotive part design and production supplier and other machinery business

      The department was established with an undergraduate program in Automobile engineering in 2003. Has set a benchmark with regular university top ranks from the very outset of this institution. The department also has its very own association named RACE (Royal Automobile Club of Engineers) which also aims at development of leadership as well as technical skills among the students

 

B-Tech Program

       Automobile Engineering has gained notable recognition and importance ever since. Currently, Automobile engineering now is one of the most challenging careers in the field of engineering with a huge demand. This branch deals with the Planning, Creating, Manufacturing, Testing and Servicing of all types of Automobiles right from the commencement stage to the production stage. This area of Engineering provides many sub sections and areas of specializations which include engine systems, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, supply chain management etc. We also provide well equipped lab facilities up to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University standards.

 

"Our vision is to bring up researcher engineers who can contribute to the production, application and spread of the information for the scientific and technological development in Automotive design and technologies in international level, gaining the ability of vehicle design and technology production, the development of nowadays and future technology that can compete - based on technology -in automotive sector in global market."

  • To impart formal education in Automobile engineering and allied areas at under graduate levels by integrating a variety of project experiences at every level throughout the curriculum.

  • To share knowledge through educational programs and the dissemination of our new discoveries.

  • To develop linkages with world class R&D organizations and educational institutions in India and abroad for excellence in teaching, research, consultancy practices and entrepreneurship.

Program Educational Objectives

To provide the students with

  1. A fundamental understanding of the basic and engineering sciences and develop mathematical and analytical skills required for Automobile Engineering.

  2. Expertise in designing and analyzing various Automobile engineering areas.

  3. Ability to provide engineering designs that are based on sound principles considering functionality, aesthetics, safety, cost effectiveness and sustainability.

  4. A broad view of the context in which their designs will be implemented and the corresponding impact of these designs on society.

  5. Capability to function ethically in professional Automobile engineering roles and exhibit good competency in their work culture.

  6. Impetus to take up lifelong learning by being active members of professional bodies like SAE. Obtain professional licensure and to undertake higher studies and research activities that will ultimately benefit mankind.

 
 
Program Outcomes

After completion of the course, B. Tech Automobile Engineering graduates will have an ability to:

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

  8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

  9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

  10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

  11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

  12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Automobile engineering is a vast and interesting subject which is constantly under innovation. Thereby we aim at creating passion and skills in students in the field of automobile engineering through theoretical as well as practical approach in technical education.

 
 

RACE

RACE- Royal Automobile Club of Engineers

            The association of automobile students, RACE is formed by the department of automobile for enriching and enhancing the talents of automobile students by various innovations, information, technologies. And it also shows the evergreen unity of automobile family. “We stimulate locomotion” which is the theme of RACE, since it is all about motion of vehicles and their innovations.
