Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. It is known to be the mother of all engineering disciplines and can be regarded as a profession which plays the role of nation building. The department of Civil engineer aims at critical thinking and problem solving based on a fundamental knowledge of humanities, social sciences, mathematics, science, engineering science and a broad range of civil engineering technical areas; Consideration of global and societal concerns, ethics, and sustainability when making engineering decisions; Leadership and effective communication; Civic engagement and contributions to society; and Pursuit of lifelong learning and professional development.

 

The department of civil engineering has been in existence in Matha College of Technology since 2012. The department also has its very own association named CIVICUS which also aims at development of leadership as well as technical skills among the students.

 

B-Tech Program

 A civil engineering graduate can become a consulting civil engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager, Contract Engineer, Planning Engineer, Site Engineer, Construction Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Cost Engineer, Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Engineer, Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Manager and many more. Opportunities for higher studies are also available in allied disciplines such as Coastal and Ocean Engineering Hydraulics Engineering, Remote Sensing, Irrigation Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering and Geodetic Engineering. The various lab facilities are  provided for both MG university and KTU students such as Surveying lab, Concrete Technology lab, Material testing lab, CADD lab, Geotechnical engineering lab, Computing techniques lab, Transportation engineering lab, Environmental engineering lab.

  • Impart education to process based functional design, analysis including computer based analysis, field design problems with relevant standards and construction and execution of housing, industrial, irrigation and environmental structures.

Program Educational Objectives

To provide the students with

  1. To produce students who can excel in their professional career and  higher education by acquiring knowledge in mathematical computing, and engineering principles.

  2. Participate in life-long learning through the successful completion of advanced degrees, continuing education and certifications..

  3. To produce students who can analyze any real life problems and design structures which are not only safe and economical but also socially acceptable.

  4. To produce students who can exhibit attitude, professionalism, ethics, ability to communicate with team members and adapt to the latest trends by engaging themselves in lifelong learning.

  5. To train students in a manner that they should function effectively in the multicultural and multidisciplinary groups for the sustainable development and growth of civil engineering projects and professions.

  6. Graduates will be prepared with a solid foundation in mathematics, sciences, and technical skills needed to analyze and design civil infrastructure systems.

  7. Graduates will have the necessary qualifications for employment in civil engineering and related professions, for entry into advanced studies, and for assuming eventual leadership roles in their profession.

 
 
Program Outcomes

After completion of the course, B. Tech Automobile Engineering graduates will have an ability to:

  1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering;

  2. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data;

  3. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.

  4. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams;

  5. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems;

  6. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility;

  7. An ability to communicate effectively;

  8. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.

CIVICUS- A Civil Engineering Students Association

Civicus is the name of Civil Engineering Students Association , in this group we provide lot of facilities to enable a student to grow in the field of civil engineering , we provide a stage to perform various seminars, and projects etc , the overall growth of student was maintained and monitored through out this association

Civil engineering deals with infrastructures, from planning to designing, construction, operation and maintenance. It also involves improvement of existing infrastructures. .
